On March 21, 2024, we announced on our website of a phenomenon found with our 20-40mm F/2.8 Di III VXD (Model A062) for Sony E mount and 50-400mm F/4.5-6.3 Di III VC VXD (Model A067) for Sony E mount lenses.
We are pleased to announce that the symptom seen on these lenses can now be corrected by updating the firmware.

Notice about TAMRON Lenses for Sony E-mount

Dear users and potential purchasers of Tamron products.

Thank you for your continuous use of Tamron products.

This is to inform you that we have confirmed the following phenomenon with some of our interchangeable lenses for Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras when using the AF assist function of the camera.

Symptom
We found the focus position moves when the camera's AF assist function is set to "off" and the focus ring is turned to adjust the focus.

We would like to announce that we found the performance of the floating system which corrects the field curvature may be insufficient (*) in a part of our 70-180mm F/2.8 Di III VXD (Model A056) products for SONY mirrorless cameras.

This product uses a floating mechanism to correct aberrations to achieve high optical performance. When compensating, the optimum effect is achieved by optimizing the compensation value for each lens. It has been confirmed that the correction values ​​are not optimal for some of the products shipped from us.

We would like to announce that we discovered some issues with our new lens, 70-180mm F/2.8 Di III VXD (Model A056) for SONY mirrorless cameras, which will be released on May 14, 2020.

[Symptom]
1. A malfunction of Inner body image stabilizer occurs when at about 70-85mm focal length and more than 5.5m of object distance.

Applicable camera models: α7II

Please turn the inner body image stabilizer “OFF” when you use this lens at less than an 85mm focal length.

2. There is a delay from the time the shutter button is pressed to the time the external flash triggers. Applicable camera models: α7、α7Ⅱ、α7R、α7RⅡ、α7S、α7SⅡ、α5000、α5100、α6000 α6300、α6500、NEX-3N、NEX-5R、NEX-5T、NEX-7、 NEX-F3、NEX-6

Rest assured we are evaluating the cause of the error and expect this to be solved with a firmware update. Early June is the target date for the release of the firmware update.
