  2. May 21, 2021, Saitama, Japan - Tamron Co., Ltd. (President & CEO: Shiro Ajisaka; Headquarters: Saitama City, Japan), a leading manufacturer of optics for diverse applications, announces the market-launch on May 25th of three new Ø43mm compact-size fixed-focal lenses for machine-vision applications, compatible with 1.1" imagers and full 24-mega pixel high-resolution[1] : 1.1" 16mm F/2.8 (Model: MA111F16VIR), 1.1" 25mm F/2.8 (Model: MA111F25VIR) and 1.1" 50mm F/2.8 (Model: MA111F50VIR).

Mega-pixel cameras used for machine-vision applications including production equipment, circuit board mounting equipment, various test equipment, and various engineering machines, are migrating toward higher resolution. Due to the accelerating progress of integration and miniaturization of semiconductor and electrical components, increasingly higher definition and resolution are required for the inspection of these devices. Higher resolution is also required outside the areas of machine-vision applications, for example, in social infrastructure, traffic monitoring and surveillance, and railroad system monitoring and inspection.

To meet the growing demand for higher resolution in these expanding markets, Tamron announces three new models of machine-vision lenses compatible with 1.1" imagers and 24-mega pixel resolution.

For use in machine-vision applications limited in installation space, the new models are compact-designed with an outer diameter Ø43mm and are equipped with an improved anti-vibration and anti-shock mechanism.

The amount of focus-shift is reduced to a minimum when the visible-light transitions to NIR bands, facilitating the use of the new lenses in the NIR (Near-IR) band for applications such as monitoring of traffic infrastructure systems.

Tamron continues development of industry-leading machine-vision fixed-focal lenses that address customers’ critical requirements and needs and pursues high optical performance that assures distinguished image fidelity and excellent user utility.

    KEY FEATURES

    1. High Resolution and Contrast Unrivaled in the Industry
The new models are compatible with 1.1" imagers, supporting 2.5µm pixel-pitch and 24-mega (max) pixel resolution, offering resolution and contrast outperforming other 24-mega pixel lenses.

    2. Industry-leading Low Distortion (TV Distortion)
    Tamron's state-of-the-art optics technology significantly reduces TV distortion compared with previous models. Specification: MA111F16VIR: 0.2% / MA111F25VIR: -0.3% / MA111F50VIR: 0.1%

    3. High-Quality Performance from Close-up to Infinity
A new comprehensive lens design covering both close-up and infinity shooting distances assures high contrast and resolution throughout the whole focal length range.

    4. New Robust Mechanism for Anti-Vibration and Anti-Shock
A newly designed mechanism improves anti-vibration and anti-shock performance compared with previous models, limiting the optical (image) deflection to less than 10µm even for the severe impact of vibrations and shocks of max 10G of magnitude.
*Vibration frequency 10-150Hz (acceleration 50m/s2), and the number of cycles: 20 cycles.

    5. Reduction of Focus-Shift in between the Visible-Light and the NIR Bands
Focus-shift associated with the wide spectrum of 400nm to 850nm is reduced to an absolute minimum, which makes the new lenses an optimum choice for cameras compatible with the visible-light and the NIR band.

    6. A Common-use Setscrew is Attached as a Standard Accessory
A lock-screw provided with the models can be replaced with any embedding-type setscrew. This further reduces the overall diameter of the lens barrel for more compact installation.
